Husband abandons critically ill wife, happily thinking he has found new happiness, but on the day of his wife’s funeral, lover suddenly runs away and disappears
That woman – Meera – has been fighting illness for many years. When she became weak, emaciated, her hair falling out in clumps due to chemotherapy during treatment at AIIMS Delhi, her husband – Rajesh – was no longer there to support her like on their wedding day. Instead, he became more and more distant, then abruptly left, walking side by side with his beautiful young lover.
Rajesh happily thought: “Free from the burden, finally I have new happiness.”
But he did not expect that the woman on the hospital bed quietly smiled, still clutching a prepared stack of papers in her hand.
Fateful funeral
The day Meera breathed her last, the funeral took place in Varanasi. The husband and his mistress still came, trying to show sympathy, but secretly thinking about the assets that would soon be his: the house in Delhi, the savings book, and the huge life insurance.
Then, before the mourning atmosphere had time to subside, Meera’s lawyer appeared. He solemnly opened the sealed envelope and read out the contents of the will:
– “All assets including the house, savings book, and the life insurance money… I leave to the Mumbai Cancer Hospital – the place that treated me wholeheartedly and accompanied me in the last years of my life. As for the husband who abandoned me… I leave nothing behind. I even take my wedding photo with me to the grave.”
The whole room fell silent. Rajesh’s face paled, his legs gave out.
The next shock
But the shock did not stop there. The lawyer folded the will, handed over another set of documents:
– “Oh, there’s one more thing. During the process of making the will, Meera also requested…
to leave all evidence of adultery to the court.”
The lover – a young girl named Kavita – was shocked when she heard this, her face paled. She stealthily retreated into the crowd, then disappeared right after the funeral, leaving Rajesh alone and humiliated under the gazes of indignation.
The cold verdict
The incense smoke billowed, Meera’s portrait seemed to look down, her gentle eyes now transformed into a verdict:
Rajesh lost his wife, lost his love, lost his honor – a worthy price for betrayal.
Less than a month after the funeral, Rajesh received a summons from the Delhi Family Court. It stated: “The accused Rajesh Sharma is hereby charged with adultery, neglecting his wife who is seriously ill, in violation of the Indian Marriage Act.”
The files left by Meera’s lawyer contained ample evidence: photos of Rajesh openly accompanying Kavita while Meera lay in bed, dating messages, and even financial transaction documents he used to support his mistress.
On the day of the court appearance, Rajesh tried to remain calm, but the prying eyes and whispers from the audience made him break out in a cold sweat.
Meera’s lawyer stood up and said loudly:
“While Meera was battling her illness at AIIMS Delhi, her lawful husband was abandoning her and openly living with his mistress. This act is not only a betrayal of morality but also a violation of the law.”
In the backseat, Meera’s former colleague burst into tears:
“She once said that the most painful thing was not the disease, but the coldness of her husband.”
Rajesh bowed his head, not daring to face her.
After many trials, the court ruled:
All assets were legally transferred to the Mumbai Cancer Hospital according to the will.
Rajesh was punished for adultery and was stripped of his inheritance.
His honor was officially recorded in the legal records – a stain that could never be washed away.
Rajesh was stunned, his mind was spinning. In just a few months, he lost everything: his wife, his mistress, his money, and his honor.
While Rajesh was in disgrace, Meera’s name was mentioned everywhere. The press reported:
“A woman in Delhi donated her entire fortune to the hospital, helping hundreds of poor cancer patients continue their treatment.”
At a solemn ceremony in Mumbai, the hospital director choked up and said in front of hundreds of patients:
“If it weren’t for Meera Sharma, many people today would not have had the chance to live. Her heart is the light in the darkness.”
Meera’s portrait was hung solemnly in the hall, under the words:
“One heart gone, a thousand hearts saved.”
Rajesh quietly returned to his old apartment in Delhi. The room was empty, with only the ticking of a clock. He looked at the empty space where Meera used to be, and suddenly burst into tears:
“Meera… I was wrong. I lost you, I lost everything.”
But late tears cannot erase the sentence of life.
Meera – left quietly but left behind an eternal light.
Rajesh – lived but was no different from a shadow, despised by the whole society.
The story ended as a warning: betrayal can bring temporary pleasure, but the price to pay is a whole life of destruction.
