Mukul Dev Passes Away: Vindu Dara Singh Reveals He Battled Loneliness, ‘Dr
Vindu Dara Singh shared that Mukul Dev was set to make his Bollywood comeback with Son of Sardaar 2, but tragically, he won’t be there to see it.
Actor Mukul Dev passed away on May 23 in Delhi at the age of 54. As per media reports, he had been unwell for the past few days. He was hospitalized for 8–10 days, and his condition worsened on Friday night. Now, actor Vindu Dara Singh, who worked with Mukul in Son of Sardaar, mourned his demise, and revealed that the actor had been battling loneliness. He shared that Mukul was not suffering from any disease, but used to drink a lot and would have gutkha.
While speaking with ETimes, Vindu Dara Singh said, “I don’t think he was suffering from any disease but he used to drink a lot and would have gutkha. He had become overweight and he battled loneliness. He has a daughter but she is also, she was not staying with him. He was making his comeback with Son of Sardaar but the sad part is he won’t be there to see it. It is very tragic news.”
He said that Mukul Dev had been hospitalized in Delhi for the past 8–10 days, where his health deteriorated and he sadly passed away last night. He also mentioned that Mukul was very close to his family, especially his parents, and had keeping to himself after their passing. He was set to make his Bollywood comeback with Son Of Sardaar 2, for which he had already finished his shoot.
“He has done such fantastic work in SOS 2. He was my Tony and I was his Tito. He had an amazing role and people are going to roll on the floor laughing after seeing his work in July when the film releases. But unfortunately, he will not be around to enjoy the success and see the love,” said Vindu Dara Singh.
Mukul Dev’s Brother Rahul Dev Issues Statement
After his brother’s death, Rahul Dev shared a brief message on Instagram, confirming Mukul’s death and announcing the details of his final rites. “Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully at New Delhi last night. He’s survived by his daughter Sia Dev. Missed by siblings Rashmi Kaushal, Rahul Dev and nephew Sidhant Dev. Please join us for cremation at 5 PM,” the note read.
Mukul Dev had a successful run across television and films. He first appeared on the small screen in 1996 with the television serial Mumkin, where he portrayed the role of Vijay Pandey. He went on to become a familiar face in Indian households with shows like Gharwali Uparwali, Kasshish, Ssshhhh…Phir Koi Hai, and Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan. He has also been a part of films such as Yamla Pagla Deewana, Son of Sardaar, R… Rajkumar, and Jai Ho.
