Actor Mukul Dev Passes Away At 54, Brother Rahul Dev Issues StatementTelevision actor and Bollywood star Mukul Dev, known for his roles in Son of Sardaar, R…Rajkumar, and Jai Ho, passed away last night in Delhi. He was 54 years old. His brother-actor Rahul Dev shared the devastating news.

For the uninitiated, Mukul was Rahul`s younger brother. The latter took to his Instagram stories and shared an official statement about his brother`s passing.

The post read, “Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully in New Delhi last night. He is survived by his daughter Sia Dev. Missed by siblings Rashmi Kaushal, Rahul Dev, and nephew Sidhant Dev. Please join us for cremation at 5 PM.”

Mukul Dev was last seen in the Hindi film, Anth The End. It was a Hindi drama that also starred Divya Dutta, Dev Sharma, and Samiksha Bhatnagar.

Born in New Delhi to a Punjabi family, Mukul had roots in his hometown near Jalandhar. His father was an assistant police commissioner and introduced him to the Afghan culture. He was also fluent in Pashto and Persian.

Mukul Dev career

The late actor`s first performance was when he was in 8th grade when he enacted the infamous Michael Jackson dance in a dance show organized by Doordarshan. This was also his first paycheck.

Before pursuing acting, Mukul was a professionally trained pilot and completed his studies at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi.

He began his acting career in 1996 with the television daily soap Mumkin. He played the role of Vijay in the serial. He later went on to appear in Doordarshan`s Ek Se Badh Kar Ek, a Bollywood countdown comedy show. Mukul also hosted the first season of Fear Factor India.

He made his Bollywood debut with Dastak, where he played the role of ACP Rohit Malhotra. It also marked Miss Universe Sushmita Sen`s acting debut.

His Son of Sardaar co-star commented on the heartbreaking news and said, “The Son of Sardaar team is in shock. Our movie is releasing soon, and Mukul won`t be there to witness its success. He gave such a brilliant performance in the film, and it`s the most hilarious movie ever. It`s heartbreaking that he won`t be there to witness its success.”

“Mukul had some of the funniest lines in Son of Sardaar 2. When people watch it in the theatre, they will fall laughing,” Vindhu added.

Vindu also revealed that Mukul had been going through a tough phase and battling mental health issues, especially after his mother passed away. He was very close to his mother.

“He was very close to his mother, and when she passed away, he became depressed. He didn`t have the same person to guide him after her passing,” the actor told ANI.
